Frequently asked
Questions
Is the Hypervolt Home a single phase or a three phase charger?
It’s a 7.4kW single phase charger, that runs up to 32 amps, designed for the markets such as the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the Republic of Ireland , Australia and New Zealand.
What are the differences between the Hypervolt Home 2.0 and 3.0/3 Pro?
We no longer manufacture the Hypervolt 2.0. One of the main differences between the 2.0 product and the newest generations is the use of Raspberry Pis. The 2.0s used to be powered by Raspberry Pi computers inside the units and the 3.0s and Home 3 Pro units are based on an internal Nebula platform. We have also developed a much more sophisticated telemetry and diagnostics engine behind the scenes so if anything goes wrong we can fix it for you remotely swiftly and easily. Both the 3.0 and Home 3 Pro have the capability to have 2 CT clamps installed.Home 3 Pro units:
- IP66 rated: meaning no moisture or dust can get in or out
- IK10 impact rating: Incredibly durable and designed for a long life
- Removable front cover: enabling swap out for colour change or in case of damage
- New mounting plate: for ease of install
- Heat sink case design: removing the fan controlling thermals through software

What rate can it charge my car at?
It is a 32A/7.4kW charger but this may vary based on vehicle make and model as well as electrical installation setup. Some EVs can pull more than 7.4kW such as Tesla’s. However you are sure to get at least 7.4kW.
Does the charger come tethered or untethered?
For now, the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is only available tethered. This is because we have found most customers prefer our "all-in-one" philosophy when it comes to day-to-day usage of their EV charger, and it's much more convenient and affordable to have a cable attached.
I’m not too sure whether my EV uses a Type 1 or a Type 2 connector.
Not to worry. If your EV’s charging system has 5 holes it uses a Type 1 connector. If it has 7 holes it uses a Type 2 connector. Alternatively, if you are unsure you can notify your EV manufacturer or dealership and they should be able to provide you with the information.
How do I buy a charger?
There are 3 ways that you can do this:
- You can either go onto our website, select Just The Charger, fill out the information required and then proceed to pay via Credit Card or Debit Card.
- We can take your information manually and then we can send you an invoice later on and ship the charger out once this has been paid for.
- We can refer you to one of our Trusted and Approved Installers who can survey your home, provide a final quote and if you choose to go ahead, they will order the charger on your behalf and then invoice you for the installation and the charger.
I have a Blue Light Card / NHS Card. How do I claim the discount?
Customers can email their ID to sales@hypervolt.co.uk for the discount to be added to their quote. If the ID belongs to a family member or someone who resides with them, customers will also need to email over a photograph of their ID and proof that they reside with the buyer and that the installation will be carried out at the address accordingly (a driving license or payslip or a letter will suffice).
How quickly can you get it installed?
Over 90% of installations are completed within three weeks of purchase! There are 4 simple steps to take:
- Get a quote today and our sales team will contact you within two business days to confirm your final quote (please note that as long as your installation is standard the original quote will be honored).
- Our installation partner will contact you within 2 business days to conduct a virtual survey and confirm an installation date.
- Sit tight, our network of Trusted Installer and Team Hypervolt will handle the whole process for you.
What is the warranty policy?
Standard warranty is 3 years. Customers can extend it to 5 years for £100 within 30 days of purchase. You can read more about our warranty policy here.
How do I control the Hypervolt?
When the charger is fully installed all you need to do is download the Hypervolt app, create an account, adopt the charger to your account and connect the charger to your Wi-Fi network. That will enable the full functionality of the Hypervolt app.
I’m getting solar panels fitted later on. Will I be able to use my excess solar energy to charge my car?
Yes, that is correct. The charger comes with a CT clamp that must be fitted at the service origin to measure the main load on the property and discover any solar export. Once the clamp detects that you are exporting over 6A/1.4kW of energy back to the grid, the charger will be able to charge. Hypervolt has recently partnered with Enphase; customers will be able to have a Hypervolt x Enphase ecosystem soon. Enphase customer brochure.
Do I have to have a CT clamp installed to use the Hypervolt?
In order to charge the EV normally, a CT clamp isn’t required. However, in order to solar charge and to use the automated load management feature, the CT clamp must be fitted to measure the main load on the property and discover any solar export. If you can’t fit this, you need to notify the customer of the risks that not fitting a CT clamp may have. You must also notify the DNO of this when obtaining permission to get the charger installed.
Can I adopt the charger to multiple accounts/use more than one phone?
Hypervolt supports multiple sign in methods. To learn more about this feature, you can read more here: https://support.hypervolt.co.uk/knowledge-base/how-do-i-link-my-accounts
Does the Hypervolt Home have integration with any home assistants?
There is a community integration that supports a Home Assistant integration. For more details, please refer to this page.
If I have a Hypervolt and I want to move house can I take it with me?
Yes, if you want to have the charger de-installed you can get your installer to dismount it off the wall and you can package it back up into the box. Afterwards, you can have it reinstalled at your new home.
Will Enphase ecosystems be available for 2.0 units?
If you have a Hypervolt Home 3 Pro or a Home 3.0, you’re all set to integrate with the Enphase Solar System. However, if you own a 2.0 model, integration won’t be possible and we won't be able to make it available at any point as it requires a 2nd CT clamp as well as bespoke integration that only works on our v3 product ranges. Not to worry though, we’ve established this upgrade path for those interested in transitioning to the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro for seamless solar integration.
I have one plug-in Hybrid and one full EV, can I use Hypervolt home 3 pro/home 3.0 to charge both vehicles?
Yes, you can use Hypervolt Home 3 Pro/home 3.0 to charge both full EV and plug-in Hybrid. You just need to adjust the current from the Hypervolt app to give 3.4 kW output for the plug-in Hybrid, and you can keep the current to max when you will be charging your full EV to get 7 kW output.
In case of any issue with the charger, who do I need to contact, Hypervolt or the installation company?
If you encounter any issues with your charger, we will always recommend customers to reach out to their installers first. Our Technical Support team works 7 days a week, Monday to Friday 8:30 to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am to 6pm. You can contact us on +44 (0)333 090 3093 / support@hypervolt.co.uk. We will make every effort to resolve the problem remotely. If an on-site visit from an engineer is necessary, that will be coordinated by Hypervolt.
